Tennessee, Arkansas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, Louisiana, Alabama
April 4 - 15, 2018

Day 1 - We will depart from our hometown, traveling to Nashville, Tennessee. After checking in, we will head to the Country Music Hall of Fame, then we’ll have dinner at the Wildhorse Saloon, enjoy some southern food, live music and country dance lessons.

Day 2 - After breakfast, we will head for Memphis. We will visit the Graceland complex, home of Elvis Presley. We will then head to downtown Memphis, where we will eat at the award winning Central BBQ Restaurant. After dinner, take a stroll on the very famous and popular Beale Street, catering to a variety of music offerings and shops.

Day 3 - Following breakfast, depart for Hot Springs, Arkansas. We will have a guided tour of the Garvan Woodland Gardens. We will have lunch on the Historic Bathhouse Row at Superior Bathhouse Brewery. We will check in before dinner at the Copper Penny Pub for a traditional Irish Pub experience.

Day 4 - We will depart after breakfast for Fort Worth, Texas and the National Historic District. You will experience a bit of that history when you view the world’s only twice daily cattle drive right down the streets, an experience hard to forget. We will check in before dinner at Riscky’s.

Day 5 - After our breakfast we depart for San Antonio, Texas. We will enjoy a narrated and guided city tour, to include The Majestic Theatre, the Buckhorn Museum, the San Fernando Cathedral, La Villa, The King William Historic District, The Tower of the Americans and more. We will check into our hotel and be free to enjoy the rooftop pool and hot tub that overlooks the city skyline, plus shopping at La Centra. We will have dinner at Rita’s on the River, located on the fabulous River Walk.

Day 6 - After breakfast we will meet our guide and begin our day of touring. Our first stop will be the IMAX theatre and “Alamo … The Price of Freedom” that recreates the thirteen-day siege and battle. We will have ample time to explore the Alamo. Next, you will visit the San Fernando Cathedral, the Main Plaza area, the courthouse, and the Texas Ranger Museum. Next door is the Buckhorn Saloon, where Teddy Roosevelt recruited his Rough Riders and where Pancho Villa is rumored to have planned the Mexican Revolution. After lunch we will visit El Mercado, where the rich culture of San Antonio abounds throughout the three block outdoor plaza lined with many shops in an area patterned after an authentic Mexican market. The square’s working artists, musicians and dancers give it a rich and lively cultural atmosphere. Next, we will enjoy a cruise of the San Antonio River Walk prior to venturing out for dinner on your own.

Day 7 - After breakfast, we will head out to the Mission San Jose for a guided tour of the ‘Queen of the Missions’. Next, it’s off to Sandy Oaks Olive Orchard, and have lunch on your own at Pearl, a historic gathering place on the banks of the San Antonio River. Afterwards, we will enjoy our afternoon of free time to meander around the city and do some sightseeing on our own. Dinner tonight will be at Mi Terra Café.

Day 8 - Following breakfast, we will depart for Houma, Louisiana. We will check in to our hotel, set in the swamplands of southern Louisiana. Our dinner will be served at Copeland’s Restaurant, which offers a casually festive atmosphere combining great New Orleans flavor and comfort with an upscale sensibility.

Day 9 - After breakfast, we depart for our not-to-be missed tour today that is offered at the Greenwood Gator Farm. We will see live alligators up close and personal at this full time working alligator farm. At the end of the tour, we will be served a typical lunch of Louisiana po-boys, prior to departing for New Orleans. We will arrive in New Orleans for a guided tour of the city, including the Garden District, St. Charles Avenue, pass by Audubon Park, a 400-acre park located in the uptown area, close to the Mississippi River, near Tulane University, the site of the 1884 World’s Fair, and City Park, the second largest urban park in the country. We will have some free time in the French Market, featuring shopping, dining, music, local produce, specialty art, handmade crafts and the Café du Monde. Our dinner tonight will be served at Tujague’s Restaurant.

Day 10 - Another fun day in the ‘Big Easy’! Don’t forget to get some beignets!

Day 11 - Following breakfast, we will depart for Huntsville, Alabama. We will enjoy a combination of dinner and entertainment at the Huntsville Depot Museum, the oldest surviving railroad depot in Alabama.

Day 12 - We will enjoy our final breakfast together before heading home.
